A new year has brought with it a raft of new slots to hit online casinos. In our monthly look at the latest slot news we are going to turn our attention to two of the biggest names in the online slot industry, Net Entertainment and Microgaming.
Both companies provide many games for numerous companies listed on Instant Slot Money so without any further ado, here’s the latest news for slot enthusiasts from each company.
As regular follows of ISM may recall, Net Ent are the company that signed up with Bet365 relatively recently to operate the games on Bet365’s newest site, Bet365 Vegas.
Since the site was founded, several Net Ent games have been added to the site and this January, Net Ent announced the release of another new slot. That slot is Tornado Farm Escape and it is a 5-reel, 20-payline slot that can be played from as little as 20p per spin, up to around £200 per spin for the big hitters.
The premise of the slot is that you want to help the animals escape from their farm through the appearance of a tornado. The more animals that escape, then the more your cash prize will be.
This is a slot which doesn’t have a free spins feature and as such is a low-variance game with regular payouts. It does however possess two other features that are worthy of note.
The first is of course the tornado feature and this is triggered in the game when you land a hot symbol on reel one and a cold symbol on reel five at the same time. When this occurs, the symbol bang in the middle of all the reels (second row of the middle reel) activates and collects all the active and wild symbols on each spin, continuing until you spin the reels and don’t land an active or wild symbol. Hit a good run of spins here and you can gain a decent return on your bets.
The second feature is the Storm bonus and this is triggered randomly from within the game. Starting somewhere on the outermost reels, the storm will spin across the reels in a seemingly random direction and as it goes, it will turn symbols wild across the reels, increasing the likelihood of you hitting a winning payline on the spin. The storm can move any way across the reels before disappearing off screen and if you are lucky and the storm triggers many wilds, you can end up with a decent sized win.
Tornado Farm Escape is an enjoyable slot, especially for players that are a fan of a slot that offers smaller, more regular wins, but if you are chasing a much bigger jackpot, then this game isn’t quite as volatile as you would like.

There’s two pieces of big news from Microgaming this month and first up is the release of another exciting game this January, the Chinese New Year themed, Gung Pow slot.
Decorated in a striking red and gold livery and featuring symbols that celebrate all the bright and colourful aspects of Chinese New Year celebrations, the Gung Pow slot has a distinctly oriental feel, right the way down to its gentle, calming musical background.
The new slot has a great range, it can be played from just a few pence up to wagers that are more in the realm of the high roller and with a jackpot of 90,000 coins available, there’s a tantalising big prize waiting for someone who hits the big jackpot.
The game features the usual Wild symbols, this time on reels two and four, which can be used with any other symbol (bar the scatter symbol) to increase your chances of a winning line. Land three or more of the scatter symbols across the reels and you’ll enter the free spins bonus round. You receive 15 free spins and all wins in this section are subject to a 3x multiplier.
Best of all, you can retrigger free spins when playing them by landing more scatter symbols across the reels.
The final feature of this slot worth mentioning is that all wins from free spins can be gambled with a select the next card feature. Gamble your winnings by opting to select the colour of the next card from the pack, and if you succeed you’ll double your money.
With Chinese New Year on the horizon, this is a timely release for Microgaming, who supply games to many popular casinos, however it is not the only news slot fans may wish to know about the company this January.
Early in the month Microgaming announced that it had signed a deal with RABCAT games to bring a number of RABCAT games to its customers. The first of these games was Castle Builder.
Castle Builder is an important release for Microgaming as it is a level-based slot.
This new form of slot is a hybrid of a slot and the popular level-based app games that prove popular on social media. Players have to work their way through the levels to progress in the game, building increasingly more complex castles, for bigger win bonuses.
It will be interesting to see if this type of level-based slot technology captures the eye of slot players, or social gamers or both. Certainly, it appears to be an area of the industry that Microgaming at least seems very keen to explore.
Castle Builder has been released in several top casinos already and it will likely be seen in many more over the coming weeks and months.
Remember, you can play games from Net Ent and Microgaming at sites like Bet365, where a vast range of slots and games are available to play from a wide range of development companies, including the two top teams mentioned previously in this article.
